The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust research portfolio in meat safety and/or meat microbiology, as well as teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses and mentor graduate students in the Department of Animal Sciences. Involvement with departmental activities is expected and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting is required. The successful applicant will have access to resources within the College of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Animal Sciences, and the JBS Global Food Innovation Center in Honor of Gary & Kay Smith.

Required Job Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Food Microbiology, Animal Science, Food Science, or related fields. Degree requirements must be completed by the employment start date.
Demonstrated expertise and experience (including laboratory experience) in meat microbiology, meat safety, or foodborne microbial pathogens.
Evidence of ability to pursue research funding in the focus areas of meat microbiology, meat safety, or foodborne microbial pathogens.
Demonstrated ability to communicate research via peer reviewed publications and presentations.
Demonstrated commitment to advance CSU’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in alignment with CSU’s Principles of Community.
Preferred Job Qualifications
One-year minimum post-doctoral experience in meat microbiology, meat safety, microbiological food safety, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding to support research activities.
Experience in culture-dependent and culture-independent microbiological techniques.
Evidence of ability to design and conduct experiments.
Ability to teach undergraduate/graduate courses and mentor graduate students.
Demonstrated willingness to collaborate with internal and external partners in their respective fields.
