JOB PURPOSE

The Director of Sustainability is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy and initiatives. This role will provide input and drive the implementation of sustainability strategies and programs focused on Seaboard Foods’ sustainability pillars -- environment, animal care, communities, employees, and food safety and quality. The Director partners with cross-functional groups, outside industry groups, and customers with the goal of delivering practical sustainability solutions that enable the business to grow and be more profitable.  The position is responsible for effectively communicating the sustainability strategy to internal and external parties.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of professional experience in a business, consulting, governmental, or non-governmental organization focused on corporate social responsibility and sustainability, or related experience required.
• Knowledge of the protein industry preferred.
• Familiarity with the major reporting framework including GRI, CDP, ESG, GAP, EFI and others
• Knowledge of global sustainability trends and ability to identify risks and opportunities.
• Exceptional time and priority-management skills and ability to work in a self-managed manner.

• Ability to synthesize complex information and clearly communicate to a wide variety of audiences.

• Flexible and action-oriented, with an ability to adapt to changing situations.
• A demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects while working effectively under the pressure of changing priorities.
• Excellent organizational and writing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well with others in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
• Aptitude for information technology (both hardware and software); proficient use of computer programs, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
